Travelers is an Canadian-American TV show, created by Brad Wright who most of you know from the Stargate franchise, which first aired on the Canadian Showcase channel and after that is was streaming on Netflix. The series was an international co-production between streaming service Netflix and Canadian specialty channel Showcase for its first two seasons, after which Netflix took over as its sole production company and exclusive worldwide distributor.
The show premiered in Canada on October 17, 2016, and worldwide on December 23, 2016. A second season followed in 2017, and a third season was released on December 14, 2018. In February 2019, Eric McCormack announced that the show was cancelled. In total there were 34 episodes in three seasons.
The premise in short: Hundreds of years from now, the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century. These "travelers" assume the lives of seemingly random people, while secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity from a terrible future.
The cast particurlarly interesting, Eric McCormack, a seasoned actor of course but the other castmembers are (much) younger but each of them played their part convincingly. I have to say I was very impressed with the acting skills of MacKenzie Porter who plays Marcy Warton. The consiousness of Marcy, (Traveler 3569), the team's medic, who assumes the life of an intellectually disabled woman. I was very impressed how she played this woman the first few of episodes.
On Rotten Tomatoes Travelers is doing very well! The first season has a 100% critics score and 95% audience score. Season 2 does not have a critics score but a 97% audince score. Season 3 also does not have a critics score, not enough critics reviews, but a 99% audience score!
Travelers was also released on Blu-ray, at least the first two seasons but unfortunately the last season, season three, still hasn't been released on Blu and I fear this won't happen either! Another Tv show only partly released on Blu-ray!
