The Pretender aired from September 1996 till May 13th 2000. It ran four seasons and there were two movies released by TNT in 2001. The first one called "Pretender 2001" and the other one "The Island of the Haunted". Unfortunately the planned third movie, to give the show a well deserved closure, was cancelled, presumably because the low ratings of the first two movies? I honestly don't know but this seems logical. I've watched The Pretender somewhere between 5 to 10 times, last time in 2017. The Pretender is one of my all time favorite TV shows ever made.

Of course you can ask yourself, but has this anything to do with SCI-FI? At most there are some SCI-FI elements in there, what happens in The Centre hopefully is SCI-FI! Jarod's capabilities perhaps? Anyway, when I saw IMDb labelling it "Drama | Mystery | Sci-Fi", I knew I had an excuse to add The Pretender to this website. I know some of you think it doesn't belong here, and some of you do think it belongs here but it is what it is.

This is really an exceptional show, with fantastic actors, really great story telling. Of course the show was one huge arc: Jarod escapes and tries to find his parents. And The Centre, in the person of Miss Parker, is trying to bring him "home". If you haven't ever watched this, it is highly recommended!

Jarod is a pretender, a very intelligent person with the ability to slide into somebody else's personality. For that purpose, he has been taken from his family as a child in order to work for a secret agency called The Centre. But recently, he escaped.
