Plot (IMDb): The Federation starship USS Voyager, chasing a band of Maquis rebels, enters the dangerous space nebula known as the Badlands. Both ships are transported by a distant space probe to the Delta Quadrant, 75,000 light-years from Federation space. Voyager's crew and the Maquis form an uneasy truce to rescue crewmen of both ships, kidnapped by the probe's builder, the powerful, dying Caretaker. The Maquis ship is destroyed in a battle with the warlike Kazons. To prevent a Kazon aggression against a helpless world, Voyager destroys the space probe. Without the probe, it will take 75 years for Voyager to travel back to Federation space. With the differences between them rendered meaningless by time and distance, The Federation and Maquis crews unite aboard Voyager. Together, they embark on their new mission: to boldly go - home.
Star Trek: Voyager aired for the first time on January 16th, 1995 and ran till May 23rd, 2001 on UPN. It had seven seasons like TNG and DS9. Star Trek: Voyager was the fourth live-action series bearing the name Star Trek. Voyager's first season aired when DS9 was in it's third season. It was the first Star Trek show who had a female captain, Kathryn Janeway.
Star Trek: Voyager isn't my favorite Star Trek but still I watched every season multiple times, somewhere in the range of 5-10 times and although the quality varies a lot in the seasons itself, it has produced some great episodes over the years. Back in the day, in the 90s, I purchased both DS9 and Voyager on VHS! Every month a VHS video was released with two episodes on it. It was something I was looking forward to each month because Voyager did air in my country but was pretty far behind.
When Seven of Nine came aboard in season 4 it was undeniable that the show became better, not only is Jeri Ryan gorgeous, she is also a very talented actress and it was a joy to have her added into the mix. For me personally the 4th season is by far the best season with episodes like Scorpion Part 2, The Raven, The Year of Hell, Message in a Bottle, Scientific Method, Hunter, Living Witness, Prey, One and Hope and Fear.
The sixth season started out as it could become my favorite Voyager season with episodes like Equinox Part 2, Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy, Dragon's Teeth, One Small Step, Pathfinder and Blink of an Eye. Although Fair Haven was among them, because that one is just awful, the season was beginning very strong! But unfortunately the second part of season 6 is mediocre at best! With episodes like Spirit Folk, Memorial, Ashes to Ashes, Muse, Good Sheppard and so on. The only exception Tsunkatse, Lifeline and the season finale Unimatrix Zero. Really was disappointed by that, like the writers really didn't know how to write good stories anymore on a regular basis. Season 7 luckily was better but certainly not in the same league as season 4, season 5 and the first part of season 6.
As I am writing this, today, January 2nd, 2021, crowdfunding has been announced by Garrett Wang to help with creating a Voyager documentary. Looking forward to that for sure I will participate.
