Last Rewatch: Series 1-4 2011, Series 5-7 25/09/2016 - 30/10/2016
Current Rewatch Series 1: December/January 2022/2023 - Series 2: January 2023 - March 2023
Plot (IMDb): The Doctor, a Time Lord/Lady from the race whose home planet is Gallifrey, travels through time and space in their ship the T.A.R.D.I.S. (an acronym for Time and Relative Dimension In Space) with numerous companions. From time to time The Doctor regenerates into a new form (which is how the series has been running since the departure of the original actor, William Hartnell, in 1966).
Doctor Who 2005, obviously launched in 2005, on March 26. There was a 9 year hiatus between the 9th Doctor in 2005 (Christopher Eccleston) and the 8th Doctor (Paul McGann) from the from the Doctor Who movie in 1996 which was a backdoor pilot but was unsuccessful to get a new TV series of the ground. Before that the last series was cancelled in 1989.
Now before I go further, I stopped watching Doctor Who with the 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi). Certainly not because I thought he wasn't a good Doctor but it was the stories, they had become weaker and weaker. This was in part already happening with Matt Smith's last series 7. It just wasn't fun anymore, I didn't look forward to a new episode and at one point you realize you forgot to watch and you don't even mind it.
So the reason Doctor Who 2005 is in my favorite list is because series 1 through 7. I think my favorite Doctor of these 3 is Matt Smith. But really I like them all three a lot, hard to make a choice between these 3. I really wished we did have one or two more series with the 9th Docter, Christopher Eccleston, he probably would have become my favorite Doctor. My favorite companion I think is Amy Pond, who started at the same time as the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) in series 5.
Why isn't the original Doctor Who not on my list. The 5th Doctor (Peter Davison) is the one I grew up with, but this is in fact the only Doctor I am familiar with. Of course you can buy this on DVD and Blu-ray now, but it's so much, it would be a large sum of money to purchase this on disc. So I only have watched a fraction of the original Doctor Who and this was so long ago, I only remember that the 5th Doctor was the one I grew up with, I don't remember any of the stories.
