Blake's 7 is a British science fiction show which aired from January 2nd 1978 till December 21, 1981. All 4 series consist of 13 episodes appr. 50 minutes, created by Terry Nation who pitched Blake's 7 to the BBC as "The Dirty Dozen in space". The title refers to the 7 characters of the initial group Blake, Vila, Gan, Jenna, Avon and Cally, also included Zen as the seventh member. It is set at least 700 years in the future.

I myself was a young boy when Blake's 7 was first airing. I am not sure but I believe it wasn't even on the Dutch television, I think I remember it was on the Belgian TV station BRT, same with Buck Rogers from that same time period. Blake's 7 was one of my first encounters with SCI-FI. I remember I regularly watched it, probably not every episode but enough to know that I really liked it as a boy! I have to admit, I have never seen it again! For one, in the 80's and 90's it never came back in the re-run and when the Star Treks came, and shows like Babylon 5, Space: Above and Beyond and Farscape, there was enough SCI-FI for me to sink my teeth in. If I remember correctly, I believe that the creator of Babylon 5, JMS, is a big fan of Blake's 7.

But last few years it was nagging me, I really wanted to watch it again and in my case it meant I had to buy the series on DVD because unfortunately it has not been released on Blu-ray, and not a streaming service I am a member of. So recently I purchased it and I will do an "unboxing....sort of, of the UK complete series set, which was released for its 40th anniversary. In 2023 Blake's 7 celebrates its 45th anniversary, a blog will be written for this, but not by me but by @TPreacher711 ,who is a BIG fan of the show! Really looking forward to this!
