Please, be aware of possible spoilers!

From then on, Cate and the gang are pursuing Titan X. But as being part of Monarch, they are fighting two sides: Apex Cybernetics, Founded by Walter Simmons, the company shares Monarch's interest in the Titans and apparent aim to protect humanity from the threat they pose. Unlike Monarch, Apex believe in subjugating and exploiting the Titans for power and acclaim at any cost instead of trying to understand the creatures' necessary role in the world's natural ecosystem, and are way more unscrupulous than Monarch.

The other one is Isabel Simmons, the adoptive daughter of Walter Simmons, who was cast aside when a year after her adoption, his wife did get pregnant and therefore, they didn’t really need Isabel anymore. She never knew love from them. Her goal is to let Kong and Titan X kill each other on Skull Island and with Kong out of the way, she wants to gain access to Axis Mundi to exploit it, to make money from it and she manipulates Kentaro to join her, with the promise to get back someone close to him, whom he lost because this person has been to Axis Mundi before so still exists there.

Cate discovers that she has a connection with Titan X, she has a way to communicate with the creature. Simmons and Kentaro are trying and succeeding a fight between Titan X and Kong, they influence Titan X via neural implants, to get it angry and agitated. They also took away Titan X’s eggs. Simmons wants the creatures to kill each other, Cate is there too, to try and stop that from happening, but she is only trying to get herself killed while these giants are fighting. The love for its eggs disconnects the neural implants and when Kong sees Titan X protecting her eggs, Kong steps back. Cate and the team lead Titan X to the Hollow Earth tunnel entrance, Bill Randa discovered back in the 50’s, and Titan X returns to Axis Mundi with the eggs. Shaw and Keiko have a short vision of Shaw's younger self, who bids Keiko goodbye. Only then Keiko realizes Bill Randa didn’t abandon Hiroshi, he just wanted the family back together because he was sure Keiko was still alive. In the final two minutes we get to see Barris recruiting May, Keiko, and Cate into Monarch alongside Tim and assigns them to the task of tracking down Kentaro and Isabel while Shaw is already searching for Isabel and Kentaro, he meets up with an old friend, A-Wut, and is led to a volcano where he sees Rodan.

Conflicts between the characters:

Cate and Kentaro are at odds for most part of the season, Kate, who feels deeply responsible for letting Titan X into our world, wants to bring it back safely to Axis Mundi, while Kentaro doesn’t care anymore about these creatures and has only one goal, to find the person he lost by going to Axis Mundi. I have to say, in season one Kentaro was my least favorite character already, but in season two he downright got so annoying I really began to dislike him this season! He became such a whiny character, only thinking about himself, obnoxious.

There were more conflicts among the team during the season. Keiko and Shaw had their issues, first when Shaw actually wants to let Godzilla kill Titan X instead of saving it and returning it to Axis Mundi. Later she learns that Young Shaw was at Axis Mundi around the time Keiko was there too. She can’t understand why he let her to stay there while he went back himself. May has had issues with Kate, with Monarch and Kentaro, because she gave them up last season. May infiltrates Apex by accepting Brenda's (Domique Tipper) job offer, and discovers that they stole Hiroshi's lure. Hiroshi finds out about Keiko’s love to Shaw. He finds this offensive, while he himself also loved two women at the same time.

Tim (Joe Tippett) is becoming one of my favorite characters, trying to keep the team together, trying to uphold the values upon Monarch was founded. He brings along a doses of humor and in the final episode he almost becomes an action hero, was fun to watch.

Sidenote:

What I really loved about season one, was the 1950’s timeline. I think the 1950’s storyline was at least half of an episode. Although we also got back to the 1950’s in season two, it was not nearly as much as the first season, at least, that is a feeling I have. That was the only downside I felt during the second season. Perhaps we saw less of the 1950’s this season because of the prequel that was announced back in December 2025, so there is enough story left to tell in the prequel, who knows.

Final Word:

This is becoming one of my favorite new shows. As I said in my previous blog, I was not particularly a fan of the Godzilla movies, but the way it is presented in this series is something that really speaks to me. I don’t need to see these creatures every episode, don’t need to see a fight between these Titans every episode. I like the story, the character development. I also like that these creatures seem to be sentient. The final moment before Titan X returns to Axis Mundi with her eggs, it looks at Cate, who help it find the rift. When Cate offers her hands of friendship, Titan X returns it, which was a very nice moment and I really like they way the story has been told so far, and that it actually has a deeper meaning to it all.
