The Middleman only ran one season in 2008 from June 16th till September 1st . The series, which was developed for television by Javier Grillo-Marxuach for ABC Family, is based on the Viper Comics series, The Middleman, created by Grillo-Marxuach and Les McClaine. Originally 13 episodes were ordered but because of low ratings the order was reduced to 12 episodes. A comic book which was based on the 13th episodes which never was produced, confirmed the cancellation It was billed as a “Series Finale” The Middleman – The Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse was released in July 2009. The DVD set of the complete series was released by Shout! Factory on July 28th 2009.
I was hooked from the very first episode. Okay, it is strange, a bit awkward maybe but it was a lot of fun! Natalie Morales is Wendy Watson, a struggling artist, is recruited by a secret agency to fight against evil forces. Matt Keesler is The Middleman and together with Wendy Watson he fights against evil forces in a most unusual way.
On the Rotten Tomatoes “Average Tomatometer” it scores a 100% from reviewers (11 in total) which says something. If you have never watched it before, just try it out, have an open mind, it really is quirky, odd but most of all fun! I have purchase the Shout! Factory DVD set and will do an Unboxing …sort of in a few weeks. Also in 2023 The Middleman turns 15, so I will write a rewatch/anniversary Blog.
