Strange New World is the 8^th live-action TV show bearing the name Star Trek. The first season premiered on May 5^th 2022 on Paramount+ and ran for 10 episodes. The last episode aired on July 7^th. In January of this year, Strange New Worlds already was renewed for a second season. The show is a spin-off from Star Trek: Discovery where Pike was the captain of Discovery during season two. His character, played by Anson Mount, garnered so much positivity that after the rumor-mill it was announced that Captain Pike would get his own show. And like the Original Series, Strange New Worlds would return to episodic storytelling rather than Discovery’s more serialized approach. This was certainly a wish from a lot of fans mainly from The Original Series and The Next Generation. The stories play out during the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series.

When I watched Discovery’s season two few years back, I too was very pleased with Captain Pike, he was the Captain Discovery was missing in my opinion. Anson Mount’s Pike had such a presence, had charisma, someone every soldier would follow. He reminded me of the Babylon 5 Commander Jeffrey Sinclair somehow, can't explain it, it’s not that they looked similar but watching Pike, made me think about Babylon 5’s first commander Sinclair. Had it the whole second season of Discovery. I myself am more fan of serialized drama, if it is done well, but turns out, I also like episodic storytelling like Strange New Worlds or for example The Orville.

It is really a refreshing after Discover because I have to say it is a massive improvement on that show (Discovery), which I no longer watch. Stopped watching after season 3. Strange New Worlds does it very well on Rotten Tomatoes, 99% Average Tomatometer, and the 80% average audience score. Anyways I am hoping that there will be many more seasons of Star Trek latest live-action show.
