It has been a while since I last saw it and ever since it arrived on Blu-ray / 4K, I have been in doubt to purchase it. I regularly looked it up on Amazon but I never did purchase it before last week. Again I was checking out certain purchases when I found a season one set which had both types, 4K and Blu-ray discs inside of it!

 

It contained 8-discs, split into four 4K discs and four Blu-ray discs! When I saw that, I basically did not have any more doubts because I really loved the first season and having 4K as well as Blu-ray discs in a set that wasn’t that expensive, was the perfect gift to myself!

 

It is a German set and yes, I know that there are some of you are reluctant to purchase it because it does not have the original English text, it is in German! Although I also prefer the original English text, it is not a reason for me to deny myself that purchase. I like having both disc-types since I do not yet have a 4K TV but I do have a 4K player already!

The set itself is a thicker set, you can compare it for instance with the original Star Trek TOS sets, the first two seasons that is. It of course contains 8 discs, it does not have any inner-art, it is a simple release, which I don’t mind at all. It has loads of audio tracks and subtitle tracks on both the 4K and Blu-ray discs. There is for about 2 hours bonus material! In these 2 hours, Three never before seen featurettes. It does not have a slipbox unfortunately.

Final Word:

I am really looking forward seeing the first season again! Bummer that season two will not be released this year but somewhere in 2025, hopefully early in the next year. Hope this little blog helps you make a choice if to buy this release. The price has gone up again a bit, I purchased it for €35 but currently it has gone up again to €45. If you do not want both 4K and Blu-ray in one set, there are other choices you could consider.
