The finale season, season 3 of Star Trek Picard is definitely the best season. This was the Star Trek many of us had been waiting for, this season finally brings us, in some part, back to the Star Trek from the 80’s and 90’s & early 2000’s we all love. It was almost a perfect season, okay there are some things I am disappointed about. What kind of things you might ask me, well , I was happy that the Dominion thread was used but I was really disappointed that not one DS9 member was present, not even a cameo.

You might suggest that Worf was there but he would have been there either way being a Star Trek: The Next Generation cast member. I would have loved it if there had been, for instance, a cameo from Dr. Bashir or Quark, I don’t care who, but anyone from DS9 would have sufficed! Other than that I was in love with this season!

I only read favorable reviews about the finale season and rightly so. Sure, it is not all perfect but to me it comes close to perfection. I don’t wanna spoil too much but the revelation Geordie was working on, was just the icing on the cake!

My season two purchase was a UK set, but for the third season I purchased the US edition. It has a slip-cover as you can see below and it also has an inner print like with season two. As you can see it has loads of subtitles and audio tracks and it most likely region free, but it has been tested for regions A & B and it worked for both regions. Region C hasn't yet been tested. Like the other seasons, it is a 3-disc set and you can see on the back-cover, there are over 2.5 hours of special features!

What is a disappointment about this set is that the keep case isn't an elite type, that on itself would not be a problem but the set consists of 3 discs but there are only 2 disc-holders! In other words, you have to put two discs on top of each other! This is a real letdown for me for a set that isn't exactly cheap so you would not expect that there would be a cut back on the packaging. On both sides you are able to place two discs so you can choose yourself.

The previous seasons were packed in a 12.5 inch 3 disc ELITE case and luckily, because in the past I purchased a few spare cases in case of damage, I was able to swap the set to my spare ELITE case, the paper cover as well as the slip-cover were a perfect fit! Below you can see 3 pictures of my swapped set, this looks MUCH better.

Final Word:

I don't know why Paramount Pictures suddenly decided to cut the cost on the packaging, I learned that they are in a bit of financial trouble but to take that out on the best season of Star Trek: Picard is only a marginal cut back savings or am I missing something?! Anyway other than the packaging blunder this is a very nice set and if you can purchase or already have a 12.5 inch 3-disc ELITE case, you can easily swap it like I did. If you have any questions about the set, please let me know in the comments below.
