Season 3 has finally been released in North America. It is a short season, only 8 episodes while season two had the double amount of episodes. When I first learned of the cutback of a number of episodes in season three, I was concerned that it perhaps would be cancelled after its third season. But luckily earlier this year it was announced that it was renewed for a 4th season.

Resident Alien airs on the Syfy channel and to be honest, it has been a long time since I really loved something from the Syfy channel, accept for this show. Resident Alien currently is the highest rated Syfy show but the numbers are not in the same league as lets say Dark Matter, The Expanse or Defiance. It is alarming how the viewing numbers for Syfy shows have been dropped in the last 10 years. But truthfully, this is the case for every network or cable network.

Like season two, the third season is also a fairly simple release, only 2 discs because there are only 8 episodes, a standard Blu-ray case without sleeve, which was there with season one.

Also like the second season, it does have art on the inside, which is always a plus. As you can see below, there is an episode guide with a short explanation what the episode is about, plus two pictures of Harry, one as an alien and one as a human. The set has English subtitles but sadly the only special features are 'deleted scenes', which is a pity. Still I am gratified that Resident Alien still gets a release on Blu-ray, on physical media in general, this is certainly is no longer a standard.

Final Word:

Well that's about it, as said, a simple release but in this day and age, I don't care about that, I am just happy that we still get this on Blu-ray! Still I do love the inner art, is always nice when the inside is brightened up a bit with pictures and an episode guide. If you have not yet seen this, I highly recommend it, that is, if you like humor! It is a show that does not take itself seriously, Alan Tudyk is masterful in the role of Harry Vanderspeigle, no one could do what he does with this role. Hope you found this interesting, gives you an idea what to expect if you chose to purchase this Blu-ray.
