I am no gamer, I never did, obviously I did know of the HALO games but I'd never seen or played any of it but when in 2013 (!) there first were plans of creating a TV show, I was interested simply because it is SCI-FI.

It took 9 years for the show to actually come to our homes. It is a long ride, 9 years and usually it means it's dead but this one kept on going and it even has been renewed for a second season. At this point I cannot tell much more because I haven't seen it yet, I am new to this universe to be honest. But I am looking forward to watching it, plan to watch it soon, start within a month or so.

Premise:

Halo follows "an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Halo will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future."

Executive producer Kiki Wolfkill revealed that the series is a standalone story that takes place within its own "Silver Timeline" that is separate from and inspired by the core canon and lore of the transmedia franchise rather than a continuation, adaptation, prequel, or sequel, explaining that they wished to give the two Halo canons a chance to evolve individually to suit their media. This decision has been compared to how Marvel Studios has adapted the Marvel Comics into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (Wiki)

Final Word:

So there you have it, the Blu-ray release of Halo - Season One. I was also thinking about the 4K release, but I decided to go for the Blu-ray release because the price difference is kinda high.

It is a nice compact release, just the way I like it, because shelf space is something I don't have a lot of. Standard Blu-ray packaging with a slip cover over it, which is always nice. The set contains 5 discs (!), that is quite a lot for only 9 episodes, so the episodes do have enough room on the discs. Also there is 5 hours of extra's on this set, which is quite extraordinary for just one short season.

It has  English (SDH) & Spanish subs, it is region free. On the inside of the cover you can see some art and also the episode titles as also specified on what disc which extra's you can find. I have to say, this is what you want to see as someone who wants to purchase these sets on physical media. Five discs for a 9 episode season is something I have never before seen. There is also Game Pass on this release which gives you a 1-month pass to play games for free.

This is it, hope this is helpful to you in deciding whether or not to purchase this set.
