From the creator of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, Ronald D. Moore, but of course before that he was a writer for Star Trek, in particular Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. For All Mankind’s first season is about the moon landing back in 1969, where the United States first set foot on the moon, in this series it is Russia who is first. The space race continues from that moment on between these two countries. Season two is arguably the best season up until now but on the whole it is a very enjoyable show.
I have to say I was kinda surprised when last year the studio Dazzler Media, residing in the UK, announced that they were about to release the first two seasons on DVD and Blu-ray! The show is airing on Apple+ TV and usually when shows air on these big streaming platforms, it is unlikely it gets a blu-ray (or DVD) release, especially so soon! So I was pleasantly surprised when they announced it. However both releases got pushed back 3 or 4 times! When the release date was changed to 2023/03/27 I was very skeptic about its release and somewhere in March of this year suddenly the release seemed to be cancelled with a release date of 2025/12/31. It seemed dead in the water! But suddenly, on April 1st (first thought it was an April 1st fools joke), It again was back on Pre-order for May 1st 2023! Because I had cancelled my pre-order, I quickly ordered it again and this time, no delays, both seasons arrived last week in perfect condition!
What is also very surprising about this set is that both seasons, which has 10 episodes each, consists of 4 discs per season! It could easily been released on 3 discs and even there are some studio’s who would release this on just two discs, just to save money, but Dazzler Studios apparently wanted to deliver quality, which I want to thank them for. Unfortunately there are no extra’s on these discs but both seasons do have English subtitles which is very nice too! I also do like the cover art of both these seasons, pity that on the inside there is no art. Downside is also that the episode titles aren't on the discs and also not on the cover art. It has region code B, so initially I would expect that if you live outside region B, you’ll need a region B or a region free player to be able to watch this. I tested it, to be sure and indeed, it is region B locked!

Final Word:
Of course it remains to be seen if the other seasons also will get a physical release, preferably Blu-ray. The 3rd season streamed in 2022 and this year the 4th season will start on Apple+, so hopefully the first two seasons will sell well but if this isn’t the case I still am happy I got these first two seasons on Blu-ray. I highly recommend this series, especially the first two seasons and what better than watching it at the best possible quality available.
