V 2009 is a follow-up on the original miniseries from the 80's which has it's 40th anniversary in 2023. Why is it not a reboot, because Anna is the daughter of Diana, it is a continuation of sorts. Back in 2008/2009 when the new V series was announced, I was quite excited because I so love the original and the second miniseries. I was really looking forward to it and although it is not all bad, I still was disappointed because it does not come close to its original.
Still it is kinda entertaining, a great cast, some very familiar faces which have done plenty more before and after V. What perhaps bothered me the most about this version, was the dreadful CGI stuff, it was so obviously fake, not for a moment you could be pulled in a story happening on the ship because the CGI was so dreadful. Real shame they couldn't afford more budget for the special effects because with a SCI-FI show this is absolutely vital to succeed, especially during the time this was produced. I mean, when you've seen the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, there is no going back for a SCI-FI fan in terms of special effects.
As I said, it was not bad, I rewatched it once or twice on Blu-ray since. So I think it has some right to be on my favorites page, if only because of this impressive cast!
