The X-Files first aired on September 10th 1993 on FOX and first ran till May 19 2002. But 14 years later came back for a short 10th season of 6 episodes and on January 3rd 2018 for a 10-episode 11th season.

The X-Files soon became a big, unexpected, hit for FOX and received mostly positive reviews. Although after season 6 or so, viewers began to voice some criticism about the long-term story arc. It had gotten so complicated and it never seem to go anywhere. Still, the arc episodes in the first 5-6 seasons often were my favorite episodes. But The X-files also has many superb "monster of the week" episodes. My favorite probably is season 4 episode "Home". Really freaked me out the first time I watched this.

Over the last few years the show has gotten a lot of criticism, mostly directed to Chris Carter, the creator, because the way he handled the the mythology episodes. Still, even if that perhaps is the case, I still love watching The X-Files, the old and the newer episodes because I just love the Mulder & Scully duo. Whatever the episode is about, their relationship is something special which we've not seem many times on TV over such a long period of time.

When David Duchovny decided to quit and only had a few guest appearances in season 8, most fans actually weren't happy with the fact that he wasn't on the show anymore. But I found season 8 and 9 entertaining because it slighty changed the show. It got a bit more fresh again. I really liked Robert Patrick in the role as FBI agent John Doggett. What I also liked a lot how Gillian Anderson played her character different in how she was desperate to find Mulder. Season 8 is probably one of my favorite seasons.

Besides spin-off shows like Millennium, The Lone Gunmen, there also are two X-Files movies, Fight the Future and I want to Believe. The first one is my favorite, really love that movie, the second one is also been criticized a lot. I on the other hand found it to be an entertaining movie. Sure, I'd rather had a movie dealing with the myhology or a real monster of the week movie kind of thing, but as a movie, I found it to be an entertaining movie.
