The Outer Limits first aired on September 16th, 1963. The last episode aired on January 16th, 1965. It ran for two seasons. In 1995 The Outer Limits returned to our TV screen with new seasons.
For Star Trek there was The Outer Limits, an anthology stories, no lead cast but every week a new story with a new cast, same as the even older show The Twilight Zone (1959). One week it was a horror story, while the next week we got to see a science fiction story or a fantasy or a thriller story. Every week something new, something different, so therefore, no recurring cast.
The opening of each episode always gave me the chills: "There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: There is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... The Outer Limits".
I sincerely hope I am able to rewatch this again in the future.
