The Dead Zone is an American/ Canadian SCI-FI show, created by Michael and Shawn Piller. It stars Anthony Michael Hall as Johnny Smith, who discovers he has developed psychic abilities after a coma. The show first aired on June 16, 2002 and the final episode aired on September 16, 2007 on the USA Network. Based on The Dead Zone novel (1979) and the movie (1983) by Stephen King.

The Dead was cancelled after six seasons and it ended on a major cliffhanger. Initially The Dead Zone was expected to be renewed for a seventh season, but due to financial concerns and fear of low ratings on the part of the producers, it was cancelled after six seasons. The sixth season was billed as the season that changes everything. The show was initially commissioned for UPN, but the network dropped it and it then was picked by the USA Network.

Premise:

The Dead Zone TV show (2002–2007) follows Johnny Smith (Anthony Michael Hall), a teacher who wakes from a 6-year coma with psychic abilities, allowing him to see visions of the past or future by touching people or objects. He uses these powers to help solve crimes, notably aiding Sheriff Walt Bannerman, who married Johnny's former fiancée, Sarah.

The first season averaged 6.4 million viewers, while season four averaged 3.4 million and season six averaged 2.1 million.
The series premiere scored 6.4 million viewers, holding the record for highest premiere on USA Network, until bested by The 4400 premiere, which drew 7.4 million viewers.
