Sugar is an American mystery drama with science fiction elements. Created by Mark Protosevich and it stars Colin Farrell as John Sugar and Kirby as Ruby.

Premise:

Sugar is a genre-bending neo-noir detective series starring Colin Farrell as John Sugar, a stylish, polyglot American private investigator based in Los Angeles. He takes on missing persons cases while secretly harboring a massive sci-fi twist: he is an alien living on Earth who is searching for his own mysteriously missing sister. 

What first started as a standard, yet interesting take, detective series, suddenly becomes science fiction when it revealed that he is an alien. I already did enjoy it before, but turning this into a  TV show with science fiction elements, only made this more interesting to me. 

The first season premiered on April 5th, 2024 and season two premiered on June 19th, 2026! More than two years apart! Although Apple+ presents itself as the streaming with the most science fiction, the downside is that mainly Apple+ shows, it takes so damned long before a new season arrives! We saw this with other shows also. It is also mandatory to rewatch the first season again before watching the new season. 

Still, I am looking forward to another eight episodes. Another downside, such short seasons, but hey, it is not something we can do anything about I guess.
