Night Stalker is an American Horror / Fantasy / SCI-FI TV show, which only aired for six weeks in the United States on ABC in the fall of 2005. It was yanked of the air after the sixth episode while 10 episodes have been produced. Later all 10 episodes aired in a rerun on the Chiller Channel.
Night Stalker was a reboot of the 1974 series Kolchak: The Night Stalker, reimagining Carl Kolchak as a younger man obsessed with a personal tragedy. ABC owned the rights to the original television movies, but not the Universal television series, and was limited to using only characters that had appeared in those movies.
Obviously the reboot did not do very well and fans of the original, really didn't think this reboot had any reason for existing. I myself did not ever see the original, so I did not have any particular expectations of what the show should be. I did enjoy most of the 10 episodes, I liked the cast and I even purchased it on DVD back in 2006. I only rewatched it once since then but I am planning to watch this in the near future.
Night Stalker was created by Frank Spotnitz, who most of you know from The X-Files where he was a writer and producer. The cast consists of Stuart Townsend; Gabrielle Union; Eric Jungmann and Cotter Smith. John Pyper-Ferguson was Agent Bernie Fain, a recurring character.
The complete series is free to watch on YouTube.
