First Watch: 29/01/2021 - 10/08/2021

IMDb: A commercial airliner suddenly reappears after being missing for five years. As those aboard reintegrate into society, they experience guiding voices and visions of events yet to occur, and soon a deeper mystery unfolds.

Manifest, created by Jeff Rake, first aired on September 24, 2018 on NBC. Manifest survived 3 seasons which is quite an achievement for a show like this, Usually these kind of shows get cancelled after only one season. Unfortunately Manifest did get cancelled after 3 seasons but it is possible that Manifest will return as a regular TV series, a miniseries or even a TV movie! This because Manifest turns out to be a BIG SUCCESS on Netflix! - Update! Manifest is saved for a fourth season at Netflix!

The show did end on a cliff-hanger so it would be decent to their public if NBC, with the help of Netflix, could at least give the show a satisfying ending in any form I mentioned above. As I said it's most unusual that shows like this go beyond the first season! Think of FlashForward, The Event or Invasion. And there are a lot more shows like that out there with only one season. And I have to say I really like it, not all of it, but for the most part it is a very entertaining show, with lots of drama, suspence, SCI-FI thingy's, interesting characters and an overarching storyline which I always prefer.

Manifest has also a lot of interesting characters, Cal Stone is one of them! That's right Grace and Ben's son! Usually I am not to keen on children in these kinds of shows but Jack Messina as Cal Stone, does a terrific job! Same can be said for his sister Olive Stone (Luna Blaise). Athena Karkanis is also a personal favorite of mine, in anything she is in. Besides the fact that she is a beautiful woman, she is also a very good actress. I don't want to, but on more than one occasion during the 3 seasons I was very much annoyed with Ben Stone (Josh Dallas)! It's not that I really dislike the character, but it is certainly not my favorite character. Also the other lead characters give good, convincing performances.

On Rotten Tomatoes only the first season has been reviewed by both professionals and audience. The professionals grade the first season only at 56%, while the audience like it better, 69%. The 2nd and 3rd season only has been reviewed by the audience, 80% and 72% for the third season.

Finally a quick note on the physical media, till now the first and second season only have been released on DVD, unfortunately not on Blu-ray!
