Jericho is an American post-apocalyptic TV series, created by Stephen Chbosky, Josh Schaer and Jonathan E. Steinberg. It centers on the residents of a fictional town of Jericho, Kansas, in the aftermath of a nuclear attack on 23 major cities in the United States. Produced by CBS Paramount Network Television Junction Entertainment.
Jericho ran from September 20th, 2006, till March 25, 2008. Because of low ratings, Jericho was cancelled after its first full season of 22 episodes, on a major cliffhanger. A campaign persuaded CBS to un-cancel Jericho and renewed for second season of 7 episodes. Because the ratings didn’t improve, CBS cancelled it a second time. In November 2007 Jericho was ranked on the 11th spot of TV Guide’s Top Cult Shows Ever! When Jericho was cancelled, the show got a new life as a comic book series.
Premise:
Jericho (2006–2008) is a post-apocalyptic drama centered on a small Kansas town struggling to survive after major US cities are destroyed in a nuclear attack. The plot focuses on the residents' fight for resources, fear of the unknown, and the rise of local leader Jake Green.
Funny thing is that on Rotten Tomatoes the critics really don’t seem to like Jericho with only a 54% score, while the audience has a much higher score, namely 84%. Last few years it is often the other way around with new shows. This shows you that as a viewer you should never rely on reviewers, always make up your own mind.
Jericho has been released on DVD and only in Germany it also got a Blu-ray release with English Audio and English subtitles.
