Last Rewatch: 03/08/2011 - 25/09/2011

Plot continues:

The N.S.A. soon realizes Jake is an untested asset and forms a Special Ops team with him at its core. As Jake finally realizes his dream of being a field operative, he must also contend with the return of would-be girlfriend Sarah Heywood, who is involved in a Congressional investigation which threatens to ...

Jake 2.0 premiered on September 10th, 2003 on the UPN channel and it was already cancelled on January 14, 2004. In total 16 epsisodes were produced but with it's first run, only 12 episodes aired. Later on, the last episodes also aired, arguably some of the best episodes. It was the precursor of Chuck (2007) and Intelligence (2014). Chuck lasted 5 seasons, Intelligence, like Jake 2.0, only one.

I realize Jake 2.0 perhaps is not perfect, it has it's flaws, especially the first episodes, storywise it was not fantastic but as the season continued, the story became more and more interesting, as I said especially the last 4 episodes were very engaging. Christopher Gorham who plays the lead character Jake Foley, has become a well known TV actor. Besides Jake 2.0 he starred in Odyssey 5 (2002), Covert Affairs (2010), Harper's Island (2009) Insatiable (2018) and much more.

Long time I was hoping for a DVD release, knowing a Blu-ray release would never come. It took 15 years, a few times there were announcements about a DVD release but till 2019 it never happened. In 2019 VEI finally released the show on DVD. Downside is, if you live outside North America, you have to find other ways than Amazon to buy this and often at much higher prices. What I also cannot confirm is if the last 4 unaired episodes are actually on the DVD set. I've read some reviews on Amazon which suggests that those episodes aren't on there.

Plot (IMDb): Jake Foley is a computer technician for the N.S.A., who secretly longs for a chance to work in the field. Circumstance puts him in a top secret laboratory, in the middle of a shoot-out between security guards and a saboteur. During the battle, a vial containing an experimental serum explodes, covering Jake with shrapnel. But it turns out that the serum is actually nanomites, microscopic machines that heal his injuries and alter his body. Upon discovering his new mind-boggling powers, Jake begins to operate at an atomic level, possessing superhuman strength, lightning-fast speed, heightened hearing, magnified vision, and the ability to communicate telepathically with computers.
