Day Break is an American crime drama TV series with a Time Travel element to it. It starred Taye Diggs as Detective Brent Hopper, who is framed for murder of Assistant District Attorney Alberto Garza. Hopper starts to relive the same day over and over due to some from of time-loop. Brent Hopper gets the chance to solve the mystery of who actually did murder Garza by reliving the day over and over again.

Day Break started airing on the ABC network on November 15, 2006, however it got already cancelled a month later on December 15, 2006, after only aired six episodes. The remaining episodes were subsequently made available online at ABC.com. Viewers for the show averaged 6.5 million. In March 2008, the complete series was aired for the first time on the TV One cable network.

The Premise is similar to Groundhog Day meets The Fugitive, Hopper uses the knowledge gained from each repeated day to navigate a complex web of lies and protect his loved ones. An impressive cast, besides Taye Diggs, we see: Moon Bloodgood, Mitch Pileggi, Victoria Pratt, Meta Golding, Ramón Rodríguez, and Adam Baldwin.

Because Day Break is fast-paced, has a dense plot, it requires viewers to pay close attention to details and clues, the show most likely got cancelled so quickly.

Because a big part of the audience, don’t want to think too much, don’t want to pay too much attention to details and don’t like when they need to watch every episode not to fall behind on the story. They like procedural shows, which is easy to follow most of the time. I don’t say it was perfect, but it certainly was interesting, it was intriguing, it had a fine group of capable actors, who were believable in the story. Shame it ended there, and luckily it did get a physical release, so you can watch the whole story at your leisure.
