It really has been 35-40 years since I’ve last saw anything of The Six Million Dollar Man (aka TSMDM)! When I was a youngster I absolutely loved the show, as far as I can remember I got to watched it every week. Undoubtedly I’ve missed some, but I think I’ve seen most of them.

Why I never rewatched it, well, as I say often, here in the Netherlands, reruns of those shows weren’t really done in the 80’s and 90’s and in the early 2000’s shows like The A-Team and some more mainstream shows did get reruns, but as far as I know, TSMDM never got repeated in the Netherlands. Of course, I could have purchased it on DVD but for some reason I never did. Most likely because I had so many shows to choose from and I was a bit hesitant because it was such an old show, didn’t know if it still appealed to me.

Last few months I am really into the 70’s shows, watched Blake’s 7, Logan’s Run, Space 1999, so I thought why not! I recently also purchased The Incredible Hulk and the 4K set of The Knight Rider. So yeah, I just went for it. I even also purchased the original Bionic Woman just yesterday, not that I watched a lot of that back in the 70’s and 80’s, but because of the connection with TSMDM and the cross-over episodes, I decided to purchase that also.

Why did I purchase the German set?

Why did I purchase the German set, while the UK and North American versions have many more discs (31/33 vs 12). Well, I almost purchased the North American set, but it was $128. With shipping and customs charges, it would be well over the $150. The UK set currently is around £187, which is well over $200. The German set, was only $70 give or take, so perhaps this makes it more logical, and having said this I also watched a very positive review of someone I follow for quite some time now. Here is another positive review from dvdbeaver. I understand that perhaps the North American set and the UK set most likely look even better, but with such a difference in price, I felt I had no other option, I too have to work for it! This all took place in the first week of July 2025.

    Aspect ratio: 1.33:1

German: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono

    Twelve-disc set (12 BD-50)
  • Packaging
    Plastic case of DVD height
    Playback
    2K Blu-ray: Region B (A, C untested)

So, as you can see, it is a simple set, one box, it has the height of a DVD case. There are no subtitles on it, loads of extra's. What is an extra plus is that the 3 TV movies which aired in the 80's and 90's, are also on this box, so yes, it's not like you still have to purchase these on DVD or something. There is an inner print, there you can find the episode titles. Unfortunately, only in German, but still, it is not very difficult, important is that you put in the correct disc and select the right episode number. You'll have to decide for yourself how much you want to spend on this set. Because I know some German, for me this isn't really a problem but I can imagine that there are fans of the show, who's German is a little more rusty!

Final Word:

I am not sure when I go and start to watch this, currently I have so many shows I want to see asap but so little time to actually watch it. Still, it doesn’t go anywhere (hopefully), it will be patiently waiting for me to take it off the shelf! And oh yes, this set is region free, you can play it in any region according to the first review (YouTube) in this blog.
