Season 4 ended on a huge cliffhanger where Aeryn and Crichton (seem to) die after Aeryn tells Crichton they are going to have a baby and he asks her to marry him. In the very last scene we see D’Argo cry out in desperation and pain as he sees his friends Crichton and Aeryn being obliterated by a passing vessel.

Originally Farscape was planned for five seasons, however Sci-fi channel cancelled it after 4 seasons. It is a long time ago but I seem to remember that this may also had something to do with Stargate SG-1 which no longer was going to air on Showtime and was about to move to the SCI-FI channel. Anyway Farscape was cancelled in September 2002 and on 17/18 October 2004 the miniseries Peacekeeper Wars aired on the Sci-FI channel. Henson refers to the three hours as episodes 4x23–4x26, though the New South Wales Film Office refers to the production as a "2 × 2 hour telemovie" (including commercials). Unfortunately the miniseries did okay but not exceptionally well, the ratings were lower than those of most other Sci-Fi Channel miniseries. So a renewal of the show was ruled out because of that.

The first part continues almost immediately after season 4 ends. We see Rygel swimming, searching for parts of Aeryn and Crichton, collecting them, which takes a few months in total. When Crichton and Aeryn are reassembled, they miss the baby! Apparently that part is still in Rygel and now it would be too dangerous to remove it. The species who had done this, appear to be the descendants of Jool’s people. The crew discover that the Eidolons are in fact a lost colony of the people of Arnessk, and have an innate ability to bring peace to others. In the past they were the keepers of the peace, they now no longer possess this trait. They go back to Jool’s planet to try to restore that. Meanwhile, when Scorpius believes Crichton is dead, he starts a fight with the Scarrans, which makes him unpopular with his superior Maryk. Maryk is Grayza’s lover and she is expecting a child also. However when Crichton has been restored, Scorpius immediately knows about it, most likely because of Harvey, who is still in Crichton’s head. Scorpius immediately leaves the war front to go in pursuit of Crichton.

John and Aeryn are trying to get married several times but every time, before the ceremony is concluded, something bad happens. A very interesting fact comes to light about the Peacekeepers! They were the helpers of Eidolons, so they helped bring peace but when Eidolons were gone the Peacekeepers only knew one way to keep the peace, with weapons. To convince Staleek that Crichton has no knowledge how to create wormhole weapons, he brings him to Einstein, who confirms what Crichton is saying. During this trip, Akhna has found D’Argo’s ship Lo’la and destroys it, Chiana and D’Argo are presumed dead. Priest Yondaloa sees a chance to try and make peace by talking and influencing Staleek but Akhna kills the priest. Only one Eidolon remains, who is able to transmit the ability to Stark. Unknown to the rest of the crew at that point, Chiana ans D’Argo are saved by D’Argo’s son Jothee. When it becomes clear to Grayza that her lover Maryk is a coward, she kills him!

The gang escapes from the Scarran ship, Crichton sees only one way, to get the knowledge of the wormhole weapon and goes back to Einstein. Aeryn gets her child put back into her, everyone thought Grunclk was the traitor but he is not, Stark is able to transfer the knowledge he got from the priest to the priestess. Pilot and Moya initially do not want to help Crichton with the wormhole weapon, Grayza takes over the fleet after she killed her lover. Scorpius figured out that Sikozu is the traitor! Scarrans promised her to free her people. He deals with her! The baby is born but D’Argo is killed after a hand to hand combat fight, he is mortally wounded, he stays behind to protect his friends. Crichton has to drag Chiana away from D’Argo. Back on Moya, Pilot and Moya instructed the DRD’s to make a machine which helps in using the wormhole weapon, they all agree. At first the Scarrans and Peacekeepers think Crichton is bluffing but they do give in, accept peace, Crichton comes out of the machine in a coma. When Aeryn places their baby beside him, he finally wakes up, they call their baby D’Argo, little D, that they have chosen for their son a name that represents strength and courage: D'Argo Sun-Crichton. They show their son the vast starfield, hopeful that their son will never have to experience war, as Crichton proclaims that "This is your playground".

Final Word:

This is it, 4 seasons and a miniseries! I’ve said if before, I truly enjoyed Farscape way more than my previous rewatches! I always liked it but with this rewatch I actually am loving it! It is just a really great SCI-FI show, which has so much rewatch value. I believe Farscape was intended to be five seasons, which obviously it didn’t happen, which sucks but at least it got the chance to finish the story with this miniseries. Most TV shows don’t get this chance so I am grateful Farscape was given the chance to finish it properly.
