Back in 2011 Captain America: The First Avenger was a big hit. One character made more than just an impression! Haley Atwell's character Agent Peggy Carter. As everybody knows the movie ended with Peggy Carter thinking that Captain America was dead and in a sense that was also the case.

Soon there were rumours of a Peggy Carter TV Series, Marvel distributed two "One Shot" short movies in which Agent Peggy Carter was the centre. They were released on the Internet via You Tube and they proved to be a big hit. Both short movies were also added as special features on the Iron Man 3 blu-ray. Around that time Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. aired on ABC and after a good start, it's steadily lost it's viewers to NCIS and other TV series. Meanwhile the Agent Carter TV series was being prepped but of course it would only have a chance if Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would be renewed for a second season. Luckily in May 2014 ABC announced it's renewal and also that they picked up Marvel's Agent Carter for an 8-episode season which would air in the winter break of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Meanwhile the season two ratings for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continued to be on the low side but steady. On January 6, 2015, Agent Carter debuted on ABC with a two-hour pilot and had okay numbers, 1.9/6 rating/share. After that the ratings declined from 1.5 to a 1.3 with the final episode. Not very encouraging if you ask me but if Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gets a renewal for it's third season, I'm confident Agent Carter will also be renewed for it's second season. When you also take into account the DVR numbers, Agent Carter  seems to do okay, but unfortunately these usually don't count. Pilot episode had a total of 3.0/10.16 million viewers and the one before last episode had a 2.2/6.24 million in total viewers.

So the faith of Agent Carter has yet to be decided but the series itself was a lot of fun, instant favourite of mine. Agent Carter is fresh, funny and has lots of action in a gorgeous 1940's setting. The characters are believable, Agent Carter is fun character, strong woman and her relationship with Jarvis is one of the best parts of the series. On the one side it's a pity that there are only 8 episodes but on the other hand, it means there are no filler episodes, it's just one big arc. As I said before, the 40's setting is just so beautiful and so realistic, real impressive, you totally get the sense you are in another era.

Perhaps it would have been better if Agent Carter would have gotten that Netflix deal like Daredevil. These kinds of TV series, with sci-fi elements, always have a hard time on standard networks like ABC, CBS, FOX etc, for some reason sci-fi series always struggle even though they have the most loyal fan base there is, or at least you would think so. Perhaps, if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would get cancelled, Agent Carter could move to Netflix because Marvel's deal with Netflix would make that an obvious choice.

If you feel the same as me, that Agent Carter should get a renewal, please make sure you tweet about it as much as possible, ask your friends to do the same, use the social media as much as possible, I know I will. Please use the following hashtags as much as possible: #SAVEAGENTCARTER &/or #RENEWAGENTCARTERPLEASE
